Groups Engage Congress on Food Safety Funding

IDSA joined in a letter to Congress that highlighted the need for increased funding to support activities at FDA that promote a safer food supply. The letter details some of the health and economic costs of foodborne illnesses, as well as the need for resources to further implement the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011.

Coalition Calls for Stronger CDC Budget (PDF)

IDSA and nearly 80 other organizations that participate in the CDC Coalition called on Congress to provide $7.8 billion for CDC in FY15. The Coalition's request represents a 14% increase; in contrast, the President has proposed a 3.5% decrease for CDC.

A Thousand Groups Call for Increased Funding of Labor, HHS, and Education Agencies (PDF)

IDSA joined 1,064 other groups in a letter urging House and Senate leaders to provide Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education agencies a top-line budget allocation equivalent to the recent high-water mark of $163.6 billion reached in FY2010.
